Working with People at Grassroots Levels for Human and Community Development

DEVELOPMENT AS THE KEY TO CULTIVATING A HEALTHY SOCIETY

Thailand is well on it's way to becoming an industrialized country. Rapid economic growth and infrastructure development are causing negative social impact at both the national and the family level. The kinds of problems that have sprung up can not be resolved by means of bureaucracy and formal solutions.

To improve their lives, people in the informal sector have to organize into groups and play active roles in the developmental process. The urban poor are exerting unprecedented pressure on state policy. To achieve their goals, they need support from non-governmental organizations with training, managerial, and policy advocacy skills.
